Description

In the middle class, Jabu Morales will convey the style of Maracatu de baque virados, one of the most famous styles from the Pernambuco carnival in northeastern Brazil. Traditionally, in addition to the instruments such as Caixas, Alfaias, Ganzás and Gongues, singing is also a maracatu performance.

Jabu Morales (Belo Horizonte / Barcelona) is a singer, percussionist and composer. She entered the world of Brazilian folklore at the age of 12. She came to Maracatu when she played in 2000 with the group Nação Estrela Brilhante in the Carnival of Pernambuco. She has been living in Barcelona for 10 years and manages the Maracatu Mandacaru, which is also a stop-off point for many Mestres when they are in Europe, so that Jabu knows the Maracatu in its most varied forms.
